Cancer Screen Week 2019

Cancer Screen Week 2019

The holiday season is upon us, and here’s a great gift that you can give…to yourself: a cancer screening.

You’ve probably heard the American Cancer Society statistics: 1 in 3 men and 1 in 3 women in the U.S. will develop some type of life-threatening cancer in their lifetime. But research is ongoing every day to find more and better ways to detect cancer at the earliest stages, when it is much more likely to be curable.

Your Work Stride website includes a section on Screening & Prevention. Use the “dot chart” to identify your risk factors for developing certain types of cancer. Fill out the confidential online Screening Tool to get customized information about cancer screening and prevention strategies.

Don’t know about available cancer screenings? December 2 through 6 is national Cancer Screen Week, a great time to talk to your workplace oncology nurse navigator about the cancer screenings that are right for you.

And then talk to your doctor about scheduling a cancer screening. It’s a gift that will keep on giving, because early detection can save your life!
