Surgeons at The Johns Hopkins Hospital have performed — among the first time in the U.S. and the world — a blend of surgical procedures for patients with advanced colon cancer. This pioneering treatment combines two effective, proven therapies: an advanced liver surgery approach (associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy or ALPPS) and hepatic artery infusion (HAI) pump implantation.
