March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States; 95% of those diagnosed do not have any family history of the disease. Early-stage colorectal cancer typically does not have symptoms, which is why screening (such as a colonoscopy) is usually necessary to detect this cancer early.
